INFORMATION SOURCES IN AN EMERGENCY

EVERBRIDGE

An emergency alert system Tuolumne County uses to notify residents and visitors of an emergency through cell phone texts, emails, and/or landlines.  It is essential that residents sign up every member of your family that might need to be notified of an event.

HIGH MOUNTAIN SIREN SYSTEM

The Strawberry Siren indicates an alert initiated by Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.   Residents and visitors should immediately check all available phone, email, and radio notification systems to find out the nature of the emergency.

The Public Information Line at (209) 533-5151 will have a recorded statement explaining the nature of the emergency.  This line is only available during an emergency or a test of the system.

Siren Alert Information is available at Tuolumne County Emergency Alerts,  TuolumneCounty.ca.gov/1170/Emergency-Alerts.  Follow the Instructions from all official sources and be aware of conditions in your vicinity.

WATCH DUTY

A non-profit organization that alerts citizens of nearby wildfires and firefighting efforts in real-time.  This service is run by active and retired firefighters, dispatchers, and first responders.  All family members can download the app on their cell phones and register for wildfire updates.

NEIGHBORHOOD RADIO WATCH PROGRAM

Internet and cell service may be impacted during wildfire.  TCARES radios are essential when other forms of communication fail.  In the event of an incident, we have the capacity to connect to the repeater at Strawberry Peak. Sign up for TCARES (Tuolumne County Amateur Radio Emergency Services) Use of the repeater will require a GMRS radio (approximately $30), and a GMRS license (about $35). This license covers your whole family and is valid for 10 years.  Register for the program at Neighborhood Radio Watch – TCARES
