Last month, the PUC approved an "interim" rate increase for the Del Oro
Water Company in the amount of 27.7% following a cash flow analysis
that showed rates needed to be adjusted to keep the utility
operating immediately pending the processing of the utility's general
rate case (GRC) that Del Oro filed earlier with the Commission.
As stated in the PUC Resolution
this interim increase is subject to refund or increase pending the
Commission-approved final GRC rates that we have petitioned in writing
to the PUC and at the September 30 public hearing at the Pinecrest
Elementary School. This means that once Del Oro's request for the 40%
increase has been decided by the Commission, the interim rate will either
go up or down to whatever amount the PUC determines is in the best
interests of the utility and the ratepayer.
According to PUC staff, we are still holding to the process outlined
earlier with the Commission notifying us when the GRC staff report is
finalized and a hearing scheduled so we can respond accordingly.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this.
Thanks.
